For Sunday, December 29th
Social Justice Outreach
The Social Justice Committee has chosen three projects for our Christmas Outreach Program in our continuing ministry to the needy:
Adopt a Family
Father’s Heart Ranch
The LGBTQ Sanctuary
Your donations will help make the Holidays brighter for the needy people served by these programs. Please make your check payable to St. Paul’s and note “Social Justice Christmas” on the memo line. If you have any questions or want to know more about the three projects we have chosen to support, please contact Lena Granet at 760.322.2179
Parish Life Book Club
The Parish Life Book Club is a group of people who enjoy reading and talking about the books they read. New members are always welcome.
The next Book Club meeting will be held on January 7, 2020, at 1:00 PM in the Library. For January, Book Club has selected The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai. This is a riveting novel of friendship and redemption set in 1980s Chicago at the onset of the AIDS crisis.

Home Eucharists are happening!
Home Eucharists are meaningful and memorable occasions for both a social and spiritual experience. Below are the dates and locations for each of our planned gatherings. Please let the hosts know if you are coming, and plan to bring something by way of potluck to support the event. Start time for each is 6:00 PM sharp (so we can all begin together). The evenings will be informal and relaxed. Guests will meet in a living room-type setting, reflecting on the readings as a group, and then gather around the dinner table for Eucharist. Food and fellowship will follow. The idea is to experience Eucharist in a more “early Church” manner and enjoy each other’s company. So, contact a host and join us for informal Eucharistic fellowship and great food.

Compassionate Care Task Force
Our diocesan task force on compassionate care for victims of clergy sexual misconduct seeks to connect with those who have experienced misconduct. If you have reported clergy sexual misconduct and have information about the reporting or post-reporting experience that could be helpful to their work, please refer to the task force members, all of whom are listed on the diocesan website: Task-Force. Information on how to report misconduct is available here.

Bullying Behavior Not Welcome Here
At St. Paul in the Desert we welcome all worshipers to a place that is free of violence and bullying.
Physical, verbal or emotional violence against others or against oneself is not acceptable because of our understanding of what it means to follow Jesus. Please let Jesus’ command to love your neighbor as yourself be your guide.
“It Gets Better” is a series of video messages to encourage Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender youth and let them know that they are loved as they are.
“A Blessing for Those Who Are Bullied” was written by the Rt. Rev. Steven Charleston, a Bishop of the Episcopal Church.
It is not enough to say “NO” to bullies. It is important to stand up for people and to provide resources for those who have been the targets.
